Cancer Final Report - Fall 2019 Cycle - Track 2

Date of Publication:
FEB 2021
Associated Project:
Cancer
Abstract
Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the United States (U.S.), exceeded only by heart disease, and its diagnosis and treatment has great economic impact on patients, their families, and society. It is estimated that by 2030, cancer-attributable costs are projected to increase to over $245 billion. Each Cancer project cycle aims to endorse measures of accountability for improving the delivery of cancer care in the U.S. During the fall 2019 track 2 cycle, two measures undergoing maintenance review were recommended for endorsement by the Cancer Standing Committee. Due to an extension of the fall 2019 commenting period, which was introduced to allow flexibility for organizations impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the evaluation of both measures undergoing maintenance review was completed during the spring 2020 review cycle. This report details the evaluation of those measures, which were endorsed.
