EHR Data Quality Final Environmental Scan 

Although EHR sourced measures promise to enable automated reporting of measures by using structured data, their use has many inherent challenges due to variation in data quality. To address these challenges, NQF convened multistakeholder Technical Expert Panel (TEP) to identify the causes, nature, and extent of EHR data quality issues and recommend best practices for addressing these issues to increase scientific acceptability (i.e. reliability, validity), use and usability, and feasibility of eCQMs. This report describes the methodology and findings from an environmental scan NQF conducted to identify the challenges during each phase of the measure lifecycle. This report will be considered as the TEP identifies best practice recommendations enhancing EHR data quality.
