Measure Feedback LoopAbstract
The National Quality Forum (NQF) convened a multi-stakeholder committee to identify and recommend effective approaches to incorporate real-time feedback on healthcare performance measures from providers, healthcare facilities, and other measure end-users back to the measure developer. The committee will recommend potential options for the implementation of a measure feedback loop pilot program. As a first step, NQF conducted an environmental scan as a guide to understand the current landscape of measurement feedback. An assessment of the present environment revealed several gaps and challenges in sustaining a feedback loop, including a variation data collection processes and measurement burden. Results of the scan will serve as a foundation to support the pilot of a measure feedback loop. This program will support opportunities to offer feedback on measure specification and implementation that can be incorporated into NQF's efforts in the quality measurement evaluation.
