Cardiovascular Measures 2014Abstract
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States accounting for one in three deaths. The Cardiovascular Phase 2 Project identified and endorsed measures in heart rhythm disorders, cardiovascular implantable electronic devices, heart failure, acute myocardial infarction, congenital heart disease and statin medications. Many of the measures in the portfolio currently are used in public and/or private accountability and quality improvement programs; however, significant gaps remain in the topic area of cardiovascular measurement. This report focuses on the evaluation of 8 newly submitted and 8 measures undergoing maintenance review for suitability as voluntary consensus standards.
