Abstract

Scientific knowledge of effective, evidence-based therapies to treat people with substance use disorders has increased substantially; unfortunately, the increase in knowledge has not been accompanied by consistent implementation of proven methods of treatment. A workshop held December 13, 2004, sought to recommend a few high-priority, evidence-based treatment practices that would help focus subsequent consensus and quality measurement efforts.
