Electronic Health Record Data Quality Best Practices for Increased Scientific Acceptability - Final Report

Date of Publication:
DEC 2020
Associated Project:
EHR Data Quality
Abstract
In November 2019, under a contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the National Quality Forum (NQF) convened a multistakeholder Technical Expert Panel (TEP) to identify the causes, nature, and extent of EHR data quality issues, particularly as they relate to key phases or processes of the measure lifecycle. This multistep effort was aimed at identifying a set of strategies for addressing issues hindering EHR data quality and also focused on how well EHR data can be used to support automated clinical quality measurement. The final recommendation report identifies solutions to address challenges that impact the development, endorsement, and implementation of healthcare performance measures that use EHR data and recommend actions for mitigating those challenges.
