Value Set HarmonizationAbstract
Electronic clinical data standards and reusable “building
blocks” of code vocabularies known as value sets, are key to accurate and
consistent reporting of electronic clinical quality measures across disparate
systems. However, both vendors and
stakeholders have reported that many value sets are overlapping or redundant in
defining specific conditions or interventions. NQF initiated a project to develop and test a value set harmonization
criteria and approval process to promote consistency and accuracy in value
sets, and offer guidance on how approved value sets should be integrated into
the eCQM endorsement process.
